ABC the Batchelorette TV’s Trista & Ryan will christen Ruby Princess Cruise Ship

Now this is just too cute. Remember Trista and Ryan Sutter, the celebrity couple who met on ABC’s hit reality series The Bachelorette six years ago?

Princess Cruises announced today that the famed love birds have agreed to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary by christening the line’s new ship, the Ruby Princess, when it debuts on Nov. 6.

Princess, of course, has long touted itself as being the most romantic cruise line at sea (it is the Love Boat line, after all), so it should perhaps come as no surprise that it’s once again playing up the romance angle with its newest vessel. With Trista and Ryan on board, the line says the theme of the inaugural celebration will be “romantic moments and milestones.”

Trista and Ryan, for those of you who don’t follow such things, are one of the best-known romantic duos in recent broadcast history. They’re the first and only couple from The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises who have actually gotten married (they also now have a son, Max). As Bachelorette aficionados will recall, Ryan proposed to Trista on the show’s finale in November 2002.

Trista and Ryan wed on Dec. 6, 2003 in an elaborate television ceremony watched by 26 million viewers, making it one of the most widely viewed episodes in the history of reality TV. They now live in Vail, Colo., where Ryan works as a firefighter and Trista is a stay-at-home mom and designer for her new diaper bag line, Trista Baby.

The 3,070-passenger Ruby Princess will spend the winter sailing seven-night Western Caribbean cruises out of Ft. Lauderdale that stop in Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Princess Cays, the line’s private island in the Bahamas. Next spring the ship moves to Europe for 12-day sailings in the Mediterranean and Greek Islands.
