Carnival Cruise Line to Deploy Carnival M/S Fantasy in Mobile, Alabama in Fall 2009

Carnival Cruise Lines

Carnival Cruise Lines, which operates Mobile’s only year-round cruise program, will increase capacity at the port by 42 percent when the 2,056-passenger Carnival Fantasy replaces the 1,452-passenger Holiday on year-round four- and five-day cruises beginning in November 2009.

With the Carnival Fantasy’s departures from Mobile, the company expects to carry approximately 170,000 passengers annually from that port. This fall, the Fantasy will undergo the next phase of the line’s “Evolutions of Fun” enhancement program.

During an extended dry-dock period the open decks will get the Carnival WaterWorks aqua park, Serenity adults-only retreat, and a new resort-style pool area. “Mobile has been a terrific homeport for us since we began service there in 2004, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to expand capacity from this port with the deployment of the Carnival Fantasy,” said Terry Thornton, Carnival’s senior vice president of marketing planning.

“The support of the local community, particularly city and port officials and our travel agent partners, has been nothing short of exceptional and we are very pleased to continue operating Mobile’s first and only year-round cruise program,” he added.

Carnival Fantasy will launch year-round service from Mobile on Nov. 16, 2009. Four-day cruises will depart Thursdays and visit Cozumel. Five-day cruises departing Mondays visit both Cozumel and Calica. Five-day cruises departing Saturdays call at Cozumel and Progreso. On Nov. 10, 2009, the ship will offer a one-time six-day cruise visiting Progreso, Cozumel and Costa Maya.

The Holiday will remain in Mobile through the Nov. 2, 2009, departure and will then be transferred to Iberocruceros, a Spain-based sister cruise brand under the Carnival Corp. & plc umbrella. Reservations are currently being accepted for the Carnival Fantasy’s new program from Mobile.

President of Cruise Zanza Blue Announces Plans to Launch Weekly Zanza Blue “Cruise Themed” Podcasts

Published by Ania Drechsler

J. Shawn Kaufmann President of Zanza Blue Travel Services announced the plans to launch weekly cruise orientated podcasts beginning early September. Twenty four podcasts have already been filmed and are currently being edited through Celestino Productions.

Mr. Kaufmann explained that after researching all available travel podcasts the results were poor. Many would be first time cruisers really don’t have a clear avenue to answer some common cruise related questions in a distinct, short and informative podcast. In addition, with the development of mega travel search engines and the increasing growth of the cruise industry finding personable advice is difficult.

The Zanza Blue Cruise Podcasts are hosted by Mr. Kaufmann and entertainer Johnny Favourite. The eccentric Mr. Favourite definitely brings personality to the podcasts. Johnny Favourite created the “Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra” in the late 90’s. His accomplishments include several awards with a Juno being the pinnacle. Johnny Favourite is currently in Toronto Canada recording a new album.

Mr. Kaufmann stated “We wanted to create short informative podcasts that were entertaining enough to view while still delivering cruise information, without the podcasts coming off as a corporate style commercial. That’s why I wanted to host these podcasts, its not often you see a CEO getting hands on. I wanted to show who we are. I was also fortunate to recruit Johnny Favourite on this project. Considering he spent a good amount of time working on cruise ships he has the experience and with his wacky personality I figured we would deliver podcasts that people want to watch”.

The podcasts were filmed with a simple visual theme focusing more on the hosts and the information. A preliminary promotional podcast has already been released and can be viewed on the Zanza Blue website.  Production podcasts featuring specific themes will be released through the Zanza Blue website, Utube, Podcast.com and ITunes in early September.

The Zanza Blue Team is currently implementing RSS options to accompany the release of the Cruise podcasts along with cruise line specific pages on the Zanza Blue website. Mr. Kaufmann stated “I feel that many of the modern day websites are getting more difficult to navigate. We are keeping the pages very basic with a good amount of information on one page. Even though it may be a long scroll page everything a future cruiser might want to know about a specific cruise line is right there, plus they can click though 18 different cruise lines all on one website instead of surfing from site to site”.

Zanza Blue is a full service Travel Agency. When it comes to booking a cruise they feature ex-cruise ship crew members as Zanza Travel Concierges. Zanza Blue focuses on traditional concierge service 24/7. When it comes to getting a helping hand on cruise booking information it doesn’t get any better then Zanza Blue.

The full list of cruise podcasts titles scheduled to be released on a weekly basis is available below. Zanza Blue will be interested to hear public feed back and suggestions regarding the theme of future podcasts.
