Cruise West Cruise Lines Expands, Enhances Sales Department

Cruise West is preparing for a year of sales growth in 2009 by making changes in the company’s sales and marketing department and creating the new position of vice president of guest experience. Michael Thomas was named vice president of guest experience and Thomas Kratsch, the former director of sales, was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. In addition, Kim Leaming was appointed director of marketing.

The enhanced sales department will allow for the greatest possible service to our travel agent partners.”

Thomas was most recently with Celebrity Cruises, where he served as director-entertainment and cruise programs for the fleet of nine ships. Thomas previously held the position of cruise director with Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises and Holland America Line. In his new post, Kratsch will oversee the direction of the entire sales and marketing department. Leaming joins Cruise West with extensive travel industry experience, most recently serving as director of marketing for Majestic America Line. Leaming will lead and manage marketing, fulfillment and design teams to achieve marketing and sales revenue goals. Cruise West sales veteran Hope Deschamps was promoted to director of national accounts, a position in which she will deploy national marketing campaigns and grow revenues, as well as seek out and cement fresh revenue-producing opportunities with new national account partners.

Also of note is the promotion of Bryce Brockway to vice president of marine and technical operations. Brockway’s broad areas of responsibility encompass personnel management, safety and training programs, operating and capital budgets, new vessel acquisition, and engineering and maintenance programs.
