MSC Cruises is featuring a number of Food and Wine Cruises in 2009.
The theme voyages will feature culinary demonstrations on how to prepare specialties from Italy and the countries visited during the cruise, “chef’s advice” sessions, and, on MSC Poesia, Asian culinary arts lessons including how to prepare sushi.
Wine tastings will feature high-quality wines while tracing the map of Italian wine cities, lessons on wine-food matching, and regional gastronomic specialties.
The bartender will reveal the secrets for concocting international cocktails. Guests will also receive a wine dictionary. Cigar enthusiasts can participate in a session on the production of cigars. Also to be discussed is the art of hospitality, with lessons on how to serve food and drink, set the table, create centerpieces and place cards, and how to decorate cakes and dishes.
The program also includes competitions and games on culinary themes, such as memory quizzes on drink names, international dishes and ingredients.
The Food and Wine Cruise is available on MSC Poesia’s 11-night cruise departing Naples on Jan. 8 and returning to Naples and Genoa; rates begin at $1,049 per person, double occupancy.
MSC Armonia’s nine-day roundtrip from Buenos Aires on Jan. 24 is priced from $1,229.
MSC Lirica’s 11-day cruise departs Aug. 28 from Amsterdam to Genoa and is priced from $1,149. The MSC Melody’s eight-day Oct. 9 departure is roundtrip from Genoa; rates begin at $899.
And MSC Splendida departs Naples on Nov. 26 and Genoa on Nov. 27 on a 12-day itinerary priced from $1,099.
