Cruise Zanza Blue
Aruba recently welcomed several ships new to the island with celebratory plaque ceremonies. On Nov. 26, Aruba welcomed for the first time Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Boudicca to Oranjestad. Jonathan Boekhoudt, acting public relations manager of Aruba Cruise Tourism, presented a commemorative plaque to Capt. Jan Thommesen in the presence of John Seraus, deputy director of the Aruba Ports Authority; Hans van Esveld, managing director for SEL Maduro & Sons; and staff members of Boudicca.
Royal Caribbean International’s Enchantment of the Seas received a plaque from Darline de Cuba, a cruise greeter from Aruba Cruise Tourism. A special guest onboard Enchantment of the Seas was the First Lady of Colombia, Lina Moreno de Uribe, spouse of President Alvaro Uribe. Mrs. Uribe disembarked in Aruba and indulged in a shopping spree before flying back home. The consul of Panama, Anabel Arends Mojica G., was also present for the occasion, since the Enchantment of the Seas is homeporting in Colon, Panama, and calls at Cartagena and Santa Marta Colombia, Colombia.
The Holiday Gift Project that is held and organized annually by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association member lines, the government of Aruba and De Palm Tours was held Dec. 11 at Club Don Bosco, Noord. Children from the Noord area will participate in a Christmas celebration and receive presents from Santa Claus. The gifts arrived onboard the Jewel of the Seas and were transported by De Palm Tours as courtesy.
The FCCA member lines are Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Lines, Cunard Line, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises (USA) Inc., Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Royal Caribbean International.
